I am a big fan of shoes. I am constantly adding to my collection. Unfortunately, I don't own this pair, but that doesn't stop me from drawing it and hoping that one day I will have the money to buy this shoe. A lot of the shoes I draw, I do them in such a way that is similar to a style industries use when designing shoes or other products. This allows me to have more freedom since I don't have to be concerned with having a lot of detail. I also have extra freedom to change the shoe how I see fit and create my own designs or color ways. However, for this piece I wanted to push myself and go for a more hyper realistic aspect for this shoe. I wanted to do this because it's very on theme for the design of the shoe. Virgil Abloh, the designer of this shoe, and many others, likes to push the boundaries on what makes a good looking shoe. Like Abloh, I wanted to push myself to make a more realistic piece since that isn't my typical style. It was definitely challenging and took much longer than a lot of my pieces, but I feel like it was well worth it. One of the most difficult things was the addition of texture. I really wanted to have a subtle tumbled leather texture on the upper of the shoe, which is a detail that does not change the overall look of the shoe but helps add to the realism of it. This piece has inspired me to continue with my usual style of more cartoony, while also experimenting with more realistic work.
